We had such a great day out at Kerikeri Primary School on Friday the 4th of December. Our graduation for 13 whanau kicked off at 11:30am with special guest Janette Walker from the National Northland Office. Principal Andrew Reed was also there to congratulate the families on their achievements and also to emphasise how important it is for the tamariki to see their parents still learning and succeeding. Emma Tracey the Computers in Homes Regional Coordinator spoke to the group about what they have achieved and also what they can expect from the project over the next year. She also discussed other training opportunities with the group such as Stepping UP (tutored by Vicki Penfold) being run at the Kerikeri Procter Library and also at the Kaitaia Library next year. Kiwiskills Jobseekers was also spoken about which is being run by REAP Kaitaia, this is free to anyone job seeking and provides an internationally recognised certificate along with NZQA points. Brett Hunter introduced himself to the group and advised everyone to get a surge protector to help save their PC in the event of a power surge. Vicki Penfold the tutor of the course handed out the certificates to her students to finish off the event.
This was our last group of graduates for the year! We are looking forward to keeping busy in the New Year. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from all of us at CiH Far North,
